2020 Playford Trust Honours Scholarship
Having completed a Bachelor of Science (Honours), I am now undertaking my PhD in the Bacteriophage Research Innovation Lab at Flinders University. I plan to enter into research commercialisation to aid in the translation of academic research into real-world solutions.
I was inspired to study science so that our amazing research reaches the community and helps save lives.
The biggest challenge I faced during my studies was balancing work and study. As a rural student, I was traveling every day to university, which became extremely expensive due to mechanical costs and fuel. I needed to work to be able to afford the travel costs.
The Playford Trust Scholarship made a huge difference to my study experience as I was able to focus more on my studies rather than work. It improved my mental health by removing the worry about whether I could afford to travel to university.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude for this amazing opportunity that had such a significant impact on my academic life.
