More than a hundred business, education, political and community leaders attended the Playford Memorial Trust Dinner hosted by the Premier,  the Honourable Steven Marshall MP, at Adelaide Town Hall on 22 November 2021.

Dignitaries present included Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, the Governor of South Australia, the Honourable Rob Lucas MLC, Treasurer, the Honourable Corey Wingard MP, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Recreation Sport and Racing, the Honourable Russell Wortley MLC, representing the Leader of the Opposition, Rear Admiral the Honourable Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR (Rtd), former Governor of South Australia, and the Right Honourable The Lord Mayor of Adelaide, Sandy Verschoor.

The event highlighted the Trust’s impact on the State, and the strong relationships with industry partners that have underpinned its growth and success. A single scholarship was awarded in 1987. This year, the Trust provided more than 100 scholarships, worth in excess of $700,000.

2021 marks 40 years since the death of Sir Thomas Playford, whose vision and leadership inspired the Trust’s creation.
