Playford Trust

The Playford Trust, in partnership with Seeley International, offers a $10,000 scholarship for an outstanding student enrolled in Honours or Masters by Research in any of the following:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Artificial Intelligence or Computer Science, majoring in Artificial Intelligence
  • Information Technology
  • or other relevant discipline.

The successful applicant, who may have a focus on innovative air-conditioning, will have the opportunity to develop their skills and enhance their industry participation through a work placement with Seeley International which will provide invaluable industry experience.

Seeley International is Australia’s largest air conditioning and heating manufacturer and a global leader in developing energy-efficient cooling and heating products.

We recommend you begin your application as soon as possible and complete as much as you can this year. This allows the Trust to pass your details on to the company early.

 

 

Selection Criteria

The Playford Trust will consider nominations from students studying at one of the two South Australian public universities and reserves the right to accept or reject any or all of the nominations.

Seeley International and the Playford Trust will jointly make the final selection, with an interview process for the final shortlisted applicants.

Applicants must:

  • be ready to commence Honours or Masters by Research in any of the following:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Electronic Engineering
    • Mechanical engineering
    • Artificial Intelligence or Computer Science, majoring in Artificial Intelligence
    • Information Technology
    • or other relevant discipline.
  • be enrolled at one of South Australia’s two public universities
  • be Australian citizens or holders of a permanent resident visa and who are resident in South Australia
  • intend to spend a significant part of their career in South Australia, or be likely to provide a benefit to the State
  • show potential for high achievement with an excellent academic record
  • be of good character. Preference will be given to students who display leadership potential.  This could include your involvement in community, charity, sporting or special interest organisations, or any other relevant personal achievements.

Preference will be given to students who have a focus on innovative air-conditioning.

It is essential that the applicant’s supervisor or an academic referee (e.g. dean of school/faculty, or lecturer) provides a supporting comment about the student’s achievements, character and leadership potential.
