Our Partnership with Hillgrove Resources

Australian company Hillgrove Resources will fund one $20,000 scholarship for a student enrolling in mining engineering at The University of Adelaide and commencing their studies in 2022.

The successful student will receive $10,000 each year for the first two years of their course and have the opportunity to develop a career-enhancing relationship with the company.

Recognising the growing demand for engineering expertise in an industry that is leading our technological future, the South Australian Government has pledged to match industry-funded scholarships. This means that one additional scholarship will involve Hillgrove Resources. One will be named the Hillgrove Resources Playford Trust Mining Engineering Scholarship and the other will be named the SA Government/Hillgrove Resources Playford Trust Mining Engineering Scholarship. Hillgrove Resources Limited (ASX: HGO) is an Australian resources company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) and owner of the Kanmantoo Copper Gold Mine, which is located approximately 55km from Adelaide in South Australia. A series of open pits were mined at Kanmantoo from 2011-2020, producing 137,000t Cu and 55,000 oz of gold. Hillgrove is investigating underground development of the high-grade copper-gold lodes that continue beneath its Kanmantoo Open Pits and in 2021 commenced an underground decline using a continuous cutting technology under trial conditions, which if proven to be commercially viable, has the potential to revolutionise underground mine development; making it safer, faster, and more cost effective. In addition, as a 100% electrically powered machine, it is an important step towards a zero emission mining future.

The Company has operated within South Australia for 15 years during which time it has developed strong operating experience with award winning positive stakeholder engagement practices, built up extensive technical knowledge about the region’s geological setting and mineral prospectivity, and become an active member of the South Australian mining and exploration community.
