The Hon Dean Brown AO is a former Premier of South Australia.  He was in the South Australian Parliament for almost 27 years and held numerous Ministerial Portfolios including Health and Economic Development.

Dean’s education and background is in agricultural research, Government and corporate management. His qualifications include a Bachelor and Master’s Degree of Rural Science from the University of New England, a Post-graduate Fellowship Diploma in Business Administration from the University of South Australia, and a Doctor of Science Degree (honoris causa) from the University of New England. He takes a special interest in innovation and the adoption of new technologies, having initiated Technology Park north of Adelaide.

Dean joined the board of the Playford Memorial Trust in 2007 and has been Chairman since 2012, overseeing a period where the Trust’s student scholarships have more than doubled.

Previously Dean was a Director of the National Youth Mental Health Advisory Board; ASX-listed Scantech Ltd; and the Australian Agricultural Consulting and Management Company.  He was Chairman of ASX-listed Hillgrove Resources Limited; and a Director of Mission Australia and Foodbank SA.  

Dean is the Chairman of SkillsIQ (Sydney-based) and the Strategic Management Committee of the Low Carbon Living CRC Node.  He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is passionate about the sustainability of the Murray Darling River.  He was the Premier’s Special Adviser on Drought; and the River Murray Community Liaison Manager for the River Murray during the drought.
