Agricultural Scholarship **New in 2026**

The Dean Brown / Playford Trust Agricultural Scholarship

Through a partnership with the Hon Dean Brown AO, the Playford Trust seeks to support outstanding students from either the metropolitan area, regional or rural South Australia who are enrolled in Agricultural Science, Agribusiness or a comparable discipline at the Adelaide University.

One scholarship of $5000 is available for a student entering the first year of their university course.

This special scholarship will be awarded annually to a high achieving student whose goal is to pursue excellence in the field of agriculture for the betterment of the State.

 

 

 

Selection Criteria

The Playford Trust will consider nominations from students about to enter their first year of an agricultural degree at Adelaide University and reserves the right to accept or reject any or all of the nominations.

The Trust will shortlist and/or recommend scholarship applicants who:

  • are ready to commence undergraduate studies in Agricultural Science, Agribusiness or a comparable discipline at the Adelaide University
  • are Australian citizens or holders of a permanent resident visa and who are resident in South Australia
  • intend to spend a significant part of their career in South Australia, or be likely to provide a benefit to the State
  • show potential for high achievement with an excellent academic record
  • are of good character. Preference will be given to students who display leadership potential. This could include your involvement in community, charity, sporting or special interest organisations, or any other relevant personal achievements.

Apart from addressing each of the selection criteria, applicants must seek comments about their achievements, character and leadership potential from a teacher or a school referee (such as the Principal, Assistant Principal or Co-ordinator).
