Alligator Energy / Playford Trust Mining Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Geology or Geoscience Scholarship

The Playford Trust, in partnership with Alligator Energy, is offering a new scholarship to support high-achieving students pursuing studies in Mining Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Geology, or Geoscience.

Alligator Energy is a leading Australian uranium and energy metals development and exploration company with a growing multi-project portfolio across South Australia. Our flagship asset, the Samphire Uranium Project near Whyalla, is positioned to become one of Australia’s next contributors to the clean-energy supply chain. This scholarship aims to encourage and support the next generation of resource and energy professionals who will play a vital role in shaping a global low-carbon future.

The scholarship, valued at $10,000 for one year, is available to outstanding students who are ready to commence their third or fourth year in Mining Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Geology or Geoscience at one of South Australia’s two public universities.

Applicants must be available to complete a six-week work placement with Alligator Energy within six months of receiving the scholarship.

In the future, Alligator Energy may extend the scholarship to include other skill areas and/or support a student undertaking Honours or relevant PhD studies.

     

    Selection Criteria

    Students enrolled in Third year or Fourth year studies in the areas of Mining Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Geology or Geoscience are encouraged to apply.

    Alligator Energy and the Playford Trust will jointly make the final selection.

    Applicants must:

    • be ready to commence Third Year or Fourth Year in the one of the aforementioned courses at either of South Australia’s two public universities
    • reside in South Australia and satisfy one of the following options:
      • Australian Citizen;
      • Australian Permanent Resident; or
      • Australian Permanent Resident with Humanitarian Visa
    • show potential for high achievement with an excellent academic record
    • be of good character with preference given to those displaying leadership potential
    • intend to spend a significant part of their career in South Australia or be likely to provide a benefit to the State
    • be available to complete a work placement within 6 months of receiving the scholarship.

    Applications should be supported by an academic referee providing comments about the student’s achievements, character, and leadership potential.
