An exciting scholarship opportunity for students in mining and petroleum engineering is helping make dreams come true while developing talent for the South Australian resources industry.

A partnership between SACOME, the SA Government and the Playford Trust has created a $2 million program offering up to 20 two-year scholarships, valued at $20,000 each, for students enrolling in mining or petroleum engineering at the University of Adelaide over the next five years.

It is being supported by OZ Minerals, BHP, Santos, Beach Energy and Cooper Energy.

The first scholarships were awarded earlier this year. Among the recipients were Olivia Wheeler, who is studying mining engineering with electives in geology, and Callum Martin, who is studying petroleum engineering. Read about their motivations and what they’re learning here.
