DEFENCE HONOURS SCHOLARSHIPS
DEPARTMENT OF STATE DEVELOPMENT
The Playford Trust has entered into a new partnership with the Department of State Development and the Defence Teaming Centre to deliver the Defence Honours Scholarship and Defence and STEM Internship Programs. The Trust works with its partners to ensure these opportunities attract the best and brightest students South Australia has to offer.
The Programs enable some of the State’s most advanced technology companies to nominate a project to be matched with high performing undergraduate students in their field of interest. The students gain valuable industry experience and are able to enhance their future career and employment prospects by working on real-world tasks.
The 2017 Defence Honours Scholarship Program is now open for student nominations. Students receive $7,000 to undertake an industry nominated Honours project. Ten scholarships are made available each year. Students must contact their university career hub to find out more information about the scholarships and the industry-related Honours projects on offer.
Expressions of interest from industry to develop industry-related Honours projects for the 2018 Program will open in July 2017.
Information about the Defence Honours Scholarship Program is available from the Department of State Development website.
A panel with representatives from the Playford Trust, Department of State Development and the Defence Teaming Centre will provide a shortlist of applicants to the industry partner. The panel’s decision will be based on an assessment of the student meeting the eligibility criteria, their application, including their academic record, proven good character and leadership potential. The panel in consultation with industry partners will make the final selection.
