TAFE SA/Playford Awards for 2009
On November 19 2009, the Playford Trust TAFE Awards were presented to Dannielle Denton, Davey Edwards and Chad Preston.
2009 Scholarship Function
In May 2009, the Playford Trust awarded scholarships to 15 students at a ceremony at Parliament House. The host for the evening was the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Hon. Jack Snelling. The 2009 Playford Scholars and their guests joined Trust members, donors, university, government and industry partners. The evening was considered to be a great success, with signs of obvious joy and justifiable pride in the talent of these young South Australians evident from their family and friends.
Two short presentations were given by Marcus Boyd and Kara Holloway. Marcus, a current Playford PhD scholar at The University of Adelaide, is studying the combustion behaviour of certain bio-fuel mixtures in high technology diesel engines.
Kara, a 2009 Honours Scholarship recipient, is working on the use of nanotechnology for the development of new materials with potential use in applications such as drug delivery mechanisms, catalysts, separation technology and biosensors. Kara is based at the Ian Wark Research Institute, University of South Australia.
